PREMIUM PIPING COMPONENTS FOR THE WORLDWIDE TRANSPORT AND STORAGE OF HYDROGEN
In 2021, ERNE decided to form an internal “Hydrogen task force” and to define an ERNE standard for piping components for the transport of 100% hydrogen.
This standard was defined in cooperation with TÜV Süd, and is based on existing American, European and German hydrogen standards, as well as relevant experience with deliveries already made for the global gas market, taking future transport of H2 into account.
The process included a review of appropriate evidence and an audit by TÜV Süd, as well as the performance of several trial productions over the past several months. The basis for the qualification, among other things, was the TÜV Süd standard P003 “Material resistance to compressed hydrogen”.
The audit also took into consideration the implementation of the requirements into a technical standard, providing supporting evidence, as well as illustrating process reliability and project management skills.
The audit report states, among other things:
“The documents submitted and the audit discussion indicate a deep understanding of the properties and regulations of and around hydrogen.”
The “H2-Ready” certificate is valid for 3 years and is checked annually with appropriate monitoring audits.
